Homunculus / Noblewoman Supposed to be Ilsigi Created by the priests of Ils to provoke the Rankan gods, she was made in the image of a young noblewoman to trick the Rankan priests into interring her into the foundation of a new temple, thus causing a disruptive weakness. Illyra helped disrupt the plot by having her body swapped with that of a hanged criminal. The Face of Chaos [Bk1]

Ex-slavegirl / servant Rankan

Trusted friend of Sarah (Cade's sister). She now lives as a lady, but was once the slavegirl, Doran.

Her freedom was bought by Cade. She now uses the name Marissa. Though an anemic creature as a slave, she was able to speak court Rankese, and read and write. She has scars covering her back and thighs.
She lives next door to Sarah with Targ, her mercenary bodyguard.

She is now separated from her drunken husband, Eevroen.

Archpriest of Sanctuary's wargod (whichever deity that is at the moment). Chief liaison between the Rankans and the Beysib occupation; he is pursuing a policy of accommodation. Architect for rebuilt walls of Sanctuary. Supreme bureaucratic administrator.

Torchholder was the high priest and temple architect of Savankala who was sent to sanctuary with the prince's retinue to build 'suitable' temples to the Rankan gods.

He originally intended the new temples to surpass the Ilsig temples but due to various events he decreased his ambitions. He is extremely powerful, rich and dedicated to the glory of his pantheon.

Molin is the perfect square-jawed, long nosed Rankan bureaucrat/ priest, but usually hides the fact his mother was a Nisi Witch. (He was the produce of the annual Dance of Azyuna Festival.)

S'danzo seeress of remarkable obesity who was slain by Beysib guards who mistakenly attacked her husband. Teacher of Illyra and friend of Hanse.

The only full S'danzo who befriended Illyra. She is a competent fortuneteller, though not as accurate as Illyra, and could not predict the near future. She supported her husband Teretaff and several children with her fortunetelling.

Unlike Illyra, Moonflower had the full bulk of a proper S'danzo crone. Hanse (Shadowspawn) often consulted her.

Powerful and ageless madam of the Aphrodesia House, the classiest bordello in Sanctuary. She is as old as Lythande and is kept young through the mage's arts. She is very protective of her girls, particularly the young ones who are not yet working the rooms.

Myrtis no longer sleeps with her customers, except perhaps Zalbar the Hell Hound. She is also mistress of the tunnels which run beneath the wall of Sanctuary.
